Grandpa? You there?

I got my name because my dad’s mom came to him in a dream. She died while my mom was pregnant with me, but before my parents could tell her. I heard the story of my dad’s dream my whole life. In his dream, he was watching my dance performance and his mom appeared beside him. He turned to her and said, “That’s my daughter. She can dance.”

My grandma has appeared in my mom’s dreams with important messages, too. These visits made my parents feel comforted, not freaked out.

When I was 12, my beloved Grandpa Em (Dad’s dad) died. I’ve had dreams with him in them – not where he’s talking to me or giving me advice, but he’s there, taking care of me like he did when I was little. It made me feel comforted.

So last week, I was watching “Giuliana and Bill” while I was on the treadmill at the gym. They went to a medium, who told them his dad and her grandma were watching over them and their son, and were with them in the room. Before Giuliana and Bill could even get their questions out, the medium was telling them what their family members were saying.

I know it could be the magic of television, but it kinda made me want to see a medium, and hear what Grandpa and the grandma I never met have to say. Is that crazy?

I’m not going to visit a sidewalk tarot card reader or anything. I just don’t think it’s so crazy anymore. Have you done it?

Let's talk it out
