New season resolutions

Happy fall, everyone! I’m wearing my new sweater today. I’m thinking about making an investment in some new brown boots to replace the ones that took a beating the last couple of New York winters. I have two more (free!) paddleboarding sessions planned, then I’m hanging up my PFD.

I have a couple new season resolutions. First is to eat better. My skin has been so unhappy with me lately. The sugar, alcohol and processed foods are not friends to it. I want to make more soup and healthy casseroles to get through the chilly months. Comfort food is my specialty, but there’s no reason that can’t be both healthy and delicious.

It’s also important to me to cut some sugar out of my diet. Rather than buying cereal for breakfast, I’d like to start my day with more protein – at least on the weekends when I have more leisurely mornings. Replacing packaged food with quick-cooking oats and my choice of fruit, nut and honey toppings sounds easy and delicious.

I’ll also transition to making my own yogurt parfaits with plain Greek yogurt. I usually stock up on individual cups of flavored yogurts at Trader Joe’s to bring to work each day. It will really only take a little more effort to mix in my own honey or maple syrup and granola, but the sugar and environmental savings will be big.

Anyone want to jump back on the whole foods bandwagon with me? I’m all about adding and making small changes. No reason to give up our pumpkin spice latte and pizzeria splurges.

Let's talk it out
