Confession: I’m kind of a big flirt. Not just with guys I’m interested in, but with everyone. I think it started when I didn’t know what to say to people, so I’d just compliment them or say something silly. Like when someone asks how I am, I like to reply with a joking, “better now that you’re here.” I realize this is a come-on, but sometimes it just comes out. And it works. The person usually giggles and the ice is broken. We can skip over the pleasantries like, “oh, fine. It’s a lovely day I’m glad the sun is out. Anywaaaaaaaay.”
I also like to include people. I don’t like to be left out, so I go out of my way to include other people, like to organize a food truck run when the new guy is available, for example. But sometimes I sense that guys especially think I’m really into them when I’m just trying to be a good co-worker or gymmate. The truth is, I do this for everyone. And it works. We become friends quickly. And I like having friends.
But sometimes it backfires and then I get called a heartbreaker.
