A couple of you have asked for a mouse/rat update, so here it is. First, Courtney and her mom have named the creature Squeaky, so since I’m not sure what species it is, let’s call it that. There has been no sign of Squeaky since that day it ran across my living room.
I have three mouse traps surrounding my bed and another in the kitchen. They remain clear. When the maintenance guy was setting them, he told me to be careful about where I step because I will get stuck to it. So there’s a funny image for you. Hasn’t happened.
Here is how my nights have been spent:
Tuesday: I slept on the couch with the lights and TV on. The maintenance guy told me as soon as I turn off the lights, Squeaky will start running. I was scared. My dad keeps the radio on in the garage at all times to keep vermin away, so I followed his lead.
Wednesday: Too scared to be home. I slept over at Jen’s.
Thursday: No sign of Squeaky, so I decided to stay home. I slept with the living room lights on and my bedroom door open.
Friday: I was told an exterminator was coming, but when I got home from The Rockaways, I saw no sign that anyone had been here. I slept with the living room lights on again.
Saturday: Still no sign. I slept with just one light on in the living room.
Sunday: I heard a scratching noise coming from the heater. Was that Squeaky or just internal things happening? Not sure. I left the living room light on again. When I heard the scratching noise, I called to Squeaky to go somewhere else.
Monday: Still no sign and roommate is coming back soon. I need to learn to sleep without the lights on. I turned them off. No scratching sounds either. Squeaky listened!
Tuesday: I came home afraid that now that I’ve let my guard down a bit, Squeaky will make a repeat appearance. Not so far.
