My sister & me

My sister and I have the same curtains. I was in her room yesterday and took note of her cute blue curtains – because I just bought the same ones only in brown for my room. What are the odds? We didn’t buy them together. I don’t think either of us has a particular affinity for Bed, Bath and Beyond curtains.

OK it’s a coincidence, but this isn’t the first time. When she lived in Michigan and I lived in Washington state, we twice bought the same exact same shoes. One is a cute story. We were lining up for her wedding rehearsal when our little cousin Emma said, “You have the same shoes as your sister!”
She was right. We were wearing identical black, strappy heels. Luckily we didn’t show up in the same dress, too.

OK one more. Not long after I arrived to college, I went out to get the cartilage of my ear pierced. She called that weekend to tell me she got her cartilage pierced. We had never talked about it, yet we both did it the same weekend.

I think it’s funny. It’s also kind of nice to have someone so similar to me in the world. Even if we differ on other things, like whether to live in the city or country.

Let's talk it out
