I kicked some 5K booty today! I’ve had so much going on lately that running just hasn’t been my priority, so I was prepared to accept a less-than-great time this morning, but I managed to focus and even pass my goal! I’m guessing it was about an 8-minute mile (with hills!), but the final net times aren’t posted yet. After mile 1, I remembered to start RunKeeper on my phone, so I didn’t get the whole race.
Here’s the truth: I don’t like running that much. It kind of feels like a chore to me. In fact, on the subway this morning, I was thinking, “OK I signed up for this race. I’m going to do it, then I never have to run again if I don’t want to.” Of course, beating my time filled me with exhilaration and I want to hit that time again jut to prove it wasn’t a fluke.
Anyway, that was my big accomplishment this morning. I came home, showered and fell asleep – as is totally normal for me post-race. It was a nice, quiet weekend, which was really nice after overbooking myself the past couple of weeks. My thinking has gone like this: I can go to happy hour with co-workers from 4-6 then to class. I can get my nails done at the place across the street while my laundry is in the dryer. I think I can run, shower and be out the door and on the subway by 6:45, right? Maybe not.
I’m having so much fun and doing so much. Next on my list is to print some photos, so I can update my Smash book, Betsy!
Here are some photos from the last week plus. We’re starting off with St. Patrick’s Day, which is crazy times in New York. That level of rowdiness is what I was expecting after the Super Bowl win.
But first, I’m going to run out for some pad Thai take-out because I have not been to a grocery store in … I’m not sure how long.
