So much to do

Gah! So much to do! I’m feeling overwhelmed and when I’m feeling overwhelmed, it’s time to write. I had the whole day off to catch up on things – and meet up with some good friends I wanted to see before I leave.

Here’s the to-do list I’m working off:

Cash in change
Mail package to judge
Use mani-pedi groupon
Use pizza groupon
Get car detailed
Sell books: Half Price Books
Sell textbooks back
Sell car
Sell table and chairs
Stuff to storage
Stuff to Riki/Matt/Mary/Heather/Pam
Clean apartment
Ship boxes to NY

The biggest thing I wanted to do today was get the car detailed and ad posted, and post the ad for the table. I called around this morning, but was unable to find a detailing place with availability. The box I thought would be perfect for the things to mail the judge (framed drawings from a story I worked on as a reporter, nothing sinister), ended up being too small. But I had two empty suitcases, so I started packing things for New York.

It was great. I tossed worn shoes, holey shirts and stained clothes. I added things I don’t wear to the Goodwill pile. As I was doing this, I took a few deep breaths and reminded myself that it’ll all work out – whatever happens.

If I need to ship another box to New York, I ship another box to New York. If my table and chairs don’t get sold, I take them to Goodwill. If I don’t get that mani-pedi, I gift the coupon to a friend. If the car doesn’t get a professional detailing, I clean it out as best I can and sell it as-is. I’m glad I got to see my friends today and hold their baby. Tomorrow I’m going to cross off that pizza coupon and see another friend. At the end of the day, these are the things that matter.

  1. Good work on keeping things in perspective Candace. I know its hard when there’s a to do list a mile long, and not much time to do it in. I am thinking of you!

Let's talk it out
