“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
Have you heard this theory? Let’s discuss. I think it’s fascinating and probably a lot true. We are influenced by the people around us – for better or worse. I had a co-worker who was so Zen. Spending 8 hours a day next to her laid-back attitude rubbed off on me. Similarly, when I worked with an uptight boss, I, in turn stressed and got short with people. And let’s not talk about how our families affect us when we go home for the holidays. OK?
Thinking about this theory is really making me consider and take notice who is rubbing off on me – for better and worse.
